Due to my limited budget, I can't go out and buy the finished article so I have to look at players who are are cheap and who I believe represent good value and will eventually come good. This involves a lot of researching but the rewards could potentially be huge.

I tend to look for young players who I believe have good potential or players who are out injured who have posted good scores prior to their injury.

I will demonstrate below on what steps I take to scout players as I believe users on a similar budget to mine could benefit by following a similar strategy.

Matej Mitrović (27) - Defender - Club Brugge.

On first glance all I know is he plays for the best club in Belgium. Using Soraredata score graph I can see he has not played in a long time however I'm encouraged that in 6 scores that were eligible 3 are 60+.

I use Transfermrkt and can see he's valued around 2 million which for the Jupiler league is above average. I can also see he's ranked 107th amongst all the players in the league and he's ranked 55th of all Croatian players currently playing. I'm encouraged but further research is required.

I can now see that he has represented Croatia at nearly every level including 12 senior caps. I believe I have found a bargain but why hasn't he played for so long? More research is required.

Bingo! He's missed 34 games due to a heel injury and is expected to be back in February 2021.

Summary

I believe with the research I have done I have found a potential bargain, although there are no guarantees, I believe there are enough positives for me to go ahead and purchase him. He's represented Croatia at senior level and has proven he can score well on the matrix. Obviously his injury is a concern but his positives outweigh his negatives in my opinion. Purchased on 26.11.2020 for £3.85! If he can return from injury and start posting good scores then I cannot see why he won't be valued at around £20-£25 given that he plays for the most dominant side in Belgian football.

In no way am I encouraging you to buy this player as I firmly believe you should research every play yourself before purchasing. I'm just demonstrating the steps I take to research players to find potential bargains.

I hope this helps people in a similar position to me (budget wise) to find players who in time will be good enough to compete for rewards in certain leagues. I'm convinced there are 100's of good, cheap players still out there and with thorough research bargains can still be found.
