My Strategy

Sorare caters for all types of traders. It's up to you to decide how to make the investment work for you. You can either:

  • Buy established players who are posting competitive scores week after week which offers immediate returns in tournaments, or;
  • Buy younger players, wait for them to develop, break into the 1st team, then profit from capital appreciation.

I've chosen the later strategy for three reasons:

1. Lack of Finances

Players who have performed consistently well over a period of time are too expensive for me to purchase at this time.

2. The Infancy of The Platform Sorare is very new so only time can tell how profitable it could be. In saying that, I can already see massive potential in the product. After joining in August 2020, I have seen substantial increases in some players. As an example, I bought a few players for around £4 each, who are now selling at auction for £20-£25. These are, naturally, for players who are performing well on the field.

3. Finding Upcoming Players Another reason I've chosen this route is that I enjoy researching players, trying to find the next big thing! If you're in a similar situation to me, then you may consider following the same route I've taken.

Using this strategy and taking into account all of my trades I have invested around £270. As of today (16.10.2020) my portfolio's estimated worth is £730. This figure is calculated on Soraredata average price of player cards. Very impressive ROI in two months if I may say so!

Furthermore, using this strategy I won a reward with a team that cost just £53.50!

I wish you the best of luck whichever strategy you choose!

Strategy submitted by my good Twitter friend Mark McBride

I have been asked my Leedsarewe to share my strategy for sorare and share my thoughts. I love the site and am happy to do this. if you have any queries please DM me @McBrideAce on twitter. Or if you want a look at who I generally buy or win you can visit my team on sorare which is also McBrideAce FC.

There is lots of content about, therefore for beginners videos etc I would recommend you follow Quinny on @Qu_Tang_Clan. As a bit of background I have been on the site for months, I also hold a good football index port and have been active on footstock until recently.

My general strategy on sorare has always been to invest heavily in youth. Unless you have a massive budget picking up players with top potential can be a cheaper way of building your gallery or making some money. In addition sorare offer under 23s tournaments aswell which means that you can pit your cards against others of the same age rather than against older players with better scored or more experience.

For what is it worth I really love youth trading and follow scouting reports. @FTalentScout is a good place to start for that. I also use other resources such as sofascore and football manager. There is always a risk with young players and the ones who play often come as a premium, however as cards don't expire I think it is a great way to plan for the future. Sorare is really unique in that hardly any top leagues aren't covered. Therefore if your player goes on to play somewhere you can usually utilise them.

Young goalies are a good place to start. Even those can be very expensive when playing and the ones who don't play are still at a premium. It is worth remembering that you have to play a goalie, and there are less of them, so demand is always very high. This drives up price. I have picked up a couple on this basis which were still not cheap (bagic, chevalier) but this lets me plan for the future when they do eventually play, or sell at a profit. I therefore if I can try and pick up at least 1 of the ones I think will play in future. Please note that this requires patience though, and often they take years before they are established in a team.

Beyond goalies, I do like to focus on the younger outfield players. Again this can be frustrating in terms of getting guys who play, therefore I have invested some money in some who do. Havertz would be a good example or someone who cost a big amount, but the man is class, plays regularly and is under 21. I am happy that I will get more than my money's worth from him long term or demand will be there if I want to sell.

For youth buying your knowledge can really set you apart. Everyone knows the top stars. My recommendation is that you spend time doing research and enjoy it if you can. Also you have to accept that some won't work out therefore you have to factor this in when buying. This is why guys who don't play can be a lot cheaper and can shoot up in price, but can become pretty useless generally if they don't get game time anywhere.

If I don't know about a player I ask someone who does. This can be risky but the quality of info on the internet is really good now, you can even at times access videos. Therefore if you are going to spend a significant amount, do your research.

To conclude even although I had a long term plan investing more to pick up the likese of Gouiri and havertz has allowed me to have some success. Recently my best result was second in under 23s which gave me coucke as a prize and £45 of eth. What a fantsaic prize for a free entry tourney. I am surprised that I am able to compete after just a few months but I think this is a mix or buying lots of cards and also being selective with my big buys. I expect Havertz for example will only go up in value given his quality and scarcity (no Chelsea licence yet)

Finally Leedsarewe asked me to do this. value wise he is doing great. Arguably better than me. The man has a great eye for value, therefore you could do a lot worse than listen to his tips. He doesn't generally trade just youth, but some of the bargains he has found are exceptional

Best of luck. Remember please enjoy, and only invest what you are comfortable with. Sorare is a game of collectables with a fantasy football element. With a big gallery of cards you cannot sell up overnight, therefore my advice is to plan ahead and spend according to how much you enjoy things.
